Chen Wenling’s Bernie Madoff inspired Art is EPIC!

The latest Bernie Madoff-inspired art was displayed at a Beijing art gallery on Sunday.
“What You see Might Not Be Real,” by Chen Wenling depicts the Ponzi schemer as a devil, horns and all. The bull, which represents Wall Street, is farting because in Chinese “放屁” (fang pi) literally means to fart, but in slang means to bluff or lie.

Book Inspiration: Shoot — Photography of the Moment

Title: Shoot — Photography of the Moment
Author: Miller, Ken
Price: $45.00
Available September 2009
The Shoot gathers over 20 photographers whose work focuses on capturing a moment rather than elaborate lighting setups or controlled, manufactured scenarios. Employing the most basic photographic tools — a single-lens reflex camera and natural light — they must rely on their instincts and their ability to interact with a situation to create a dynamic image. This freewheeling approach reflects an era in which we are increasingly bombarded by images, and the emotional resonance of images has become an important part of our visual vocabulary. The book documents the influence of an older generation of art photographers, such as the legendary Nan Goldin and Wolfgang Tillmans, and expands on a younger generation of photographers, including Tim Barber and J. H. Engström, to show how this style has gained traction and influence.

Drive Inn ~ Mixed Media on Canvas
I love the way the artist Maureen Brouillette combines acrylic, photos, drawings, architectural images and abstract shapes in collage form. Travel photos, collected postcards and well worn maps were the inspiration for her exhibit ROAD TRIP.

Red Horse ~ Mixed Media on Canvas
I love the way she integrates graffiti-like lines, bold color and contrasting neutral hues. It’s a contemporary take on everyday life and forgotten images…

Left my favorite for last… I need to get me one of these pieces, pronto! : )

The opening of celebrity photographer Johnathan Mannion’s three week long exhibition at the Milk Gallery in New York City, will end tomorrow. I miss the big fancy opening as Elliot puts it, but I did go check out the exhibit and was very impress. So, I figured I’ll give you ladies, a look behind the photographer as he gives the story behind Jay-z and Lil Wayne. To see more of his work… Visit www.jonathanmannion.com and to see more stories behind the shoots… Visit www.rapradar.com Video’s courtesy of Rap Radar.
